Advisory and Operational Support Projects

ACGME Global Services works with a wide variety of clients to assist in developing or enhancing post-graduate medical education (PGME) in their regions or countries. Below are examples of such projects.

Enhance PGME

Saudi Arabia

Working under a contract with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHFS), ACGME Global Services undertook a project to enhance PGME in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The project had two parts, with the first involving evaluations and recommendations related to the Kingdom’s national PGME activities, and the second involving evaluations and recommendations related to proposed new and existing training centers hosting programs that did not meet SCFHS accreditation requirements. Thirty-four training centers received in-person site visits and several others were visited virtually. Assessments, gap analyses, and roadmaps for improvement were issued for the national program and for each training center visited.

Develop and Implement a New Accreditation Model

Singapore

The Singapore Ministry of Health (MOH) has requested assistance from ACGME Global Services in developing and implementing their Accreditation of Postgraduate Medical Education Singapore (APMES). The 98 PGME programs in Singapore were previously accredited solely by ACGME International (ACGME-I), jointly by ACGME-I and the MOH, or solely by the MOH. Once fully implemented, APMES will accredit all PGME programs in Singapore. ACGME Global Services collaborated with the MOH in developing APMES and is assisting in the transition of all programs to it.

Improve Medical Competencies and Medical Education

United Arab Emirates (UAE)

ACGME Global Services has signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Institute of Health Specialties (NIHS) of the UAE to improve the medical competencies framework and develop the quality of medical education in the UAE through a uniform PGME and specialty education and training system in accordance with internationally recognized standards.

Enhance Training for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physicians

Vietnam

The Ministry of Health of Vietnam has identified a need to improve its physical medicine and rehabilitation education and training program for clinical professionals to align with international standards. ACGME Global Services assisted through assessments and gap analyses of current physical medicine and rehabilitation professional competency standards and program requirements for education and training in the country.
